Save the rainforest!
Madagascar is one of the oldest islands on Earth and separated from the mainland very early on in the history of the planet. As a result, the country is home to an exceptionally large number of endemic animal and plant species. The island was probably almost completely forested before the first settlers arrived. Today, only four percent of this primeval rainforest remains. Instead of deep rainforest, the landscape is now characterized by wet, dry, and thorny savannas. Deforestation of the rainforest endangers its unique inhabitants. Previous reforestation projects have failed, as has the natural recultivation of the environment. With our reforestation project, we want to raise children's awareness of their environment, native flora and fauna, and global climate change. Only if children are introduced to these issues at an early age can they develop environmental awareness and influence the future of the country and its inhabitants. In our school projects, children will plant and care for trees and learn about native animals. For a deeper impression of the reforestation project, please visit
