Visit to a Rainforest School
During one of her trips, Tahina was informed about a school located in the middle of the rainforest. Around 160 children from the surrounding villages attend this school. Most of them come from extremely poor families and live under very difficult conditions.
Tahina and Patrick visited the school and were able to see for themselves the very basic and challenging conditions on site. Despite these difficulties, the teachers are highly committed to providing education for the children.
Thanks to the financial support of a donor, rain jackets and rain trousers were distributed to all pupils. In addition, other items of clothing donated by supporters from Luxembourg and Germany were given to the children most in need.
The children's joy and surprise were clearly visible. Many of them own very few clothes, and some wear only old and heavily worn garments. Their enthusiasm for the donated items was therefore all the greater.
The headmaster and the teachers repeatedly expressed their gratitude for the support. They emphasised how important this assistance is for the children. Thanks to the donated rainwear, the pupils are now much better protected from rain and cold and can make their often long journey to school under improved conditions.
