The School Cafeteria

The School Cafeteria

On February 27, 2024, we opened a school cafeteria at the school of our sponsored children, “La Victoire Plus.” There, all children can eat together twice a week. The meals are prepared together with the children's parents so that the children also receive healthy, freshly cooked food at home. We use special ovens for cooking that consume less firewood. Thanks to our canteen project, children who do not yet have supporting sponsors do not feel neglected and gain confidence in our aid organization.

We will post daily pictures of the canteen, the children, and the menu so that you can get an impression of the situation on site.

What do the children get to eat?

We provide the children with healthy and nutritious meals in the Madagascan style. These mainly include rice, meat, milk, offal, Madagascan cakes, yogurt, and corn.

The Library

A child who reads will become an adult who thinks.

Reading and writing are skills that most people learn in their early years at school. This is not the case in Madagascar, as there is neither compulsory schooling nor free education. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to school. The entire family, which has an average of four children, has to work to provide for everyone. Illiteracy is very prevalent in Madagascar, so many public areas have to compensate for this lack of skills. For example, the various bus routes are marked with different colors. This lack of knowledge is due to a lack of materials in schools, which are in short supply. Books, notebooks, and pens must be purchased separately, which many families cannot afford. A public library should enable everyone to have access to a variety of books. This library should have books of all genres and languages. This will enable the children to develop in a variety of ways. The library is closely linked to our orphanage project and will have various locations throughout the country. You can support this project both financially and with donations in kind. For a more in-depth impression of our library project, please visit our picture gallery.

Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to open our first library!

The Operation Day

Support the sick.

Madagascar has one of the worst healthcare systems in the world and is therefore unable to perform and finance complex operations and long-term treatments. Twice a year, aid organizations organize a so-called “operation day.” On this day, volunteer doctors treat sick people pro bono around the clock. This operation day depends on aid organizations and financial support. Clean water is essential for successful treatment. Our organization supports this surgery day by purchasing drinking water for the patients. Without financial support, patients would have to resort to river water, which has a high sediment content. For a more in-depth impression of the surgery day, please visit our picture gallery.

The Orphanage

Support the poorest.

Madagascar is the fifth poorest country in the world, with large parts of the population practicing ancestor worship and one of the worst healthcare systems in the world. In Madagascar, the birth rate is 30.95% and the average age is 20.3. In comparison, the birth rate in Germany is 9.60% and the average age is 47.8. The healthcare system is simply overwhelmed. There are 0.18 professional doctors per 1,000 inhabitants, and many people cannot afford medical examinations or medication. Orphans are therefore not uncommon in Madagascar, and even if the parents are still alive, they cannot afford to send their children to school. In addition, there are radical, religion-driven traditions that prohibit the birth of twins, for example. Often, one twin is abandoned or killed.

By establishing an orphanage, we could support the most vulnerable members of society and prevent twin killings. Every child should have access to food, water, clothing, and education. For as little as $25 per month, a child can attend a private school, receive a school uniform, and be provided with a daily meal. Tahina, who has already taken in three children from poor backgrounds, would take over the management of the orphanage, which, according to the plans, will provide a home for 20 children. Our ultimate goal is to build orphanages all over the island, thereby shaping and improving the future of Madagascar in a sustainable way.

This project is closely linked to our “library” project. Even small financial donations help us greatly with the construction and care of the children. For a better impression of our orphanage project, please visit our picture gallery.

The School Supplies

Those who write remain.

In Germany, it is a matter of course for every student to receive books and notebooks for every subject. Many schools are also equipped with computers and smartboards. Everyone has the materials they need to learn to write, read, and draw. Schools in Madagascar are in stark contrast to the European school system. Classes consist of up to 60 children, and there are no blackboards, benches, or chairs. Some schools do not even have walls. Very few have books and work materials. It is simply not possible for the children to learn in a sustainable way. It is financially impossible to support the children's school careers. As a result, many children are forced to drop out of school. The children of Madagascar represent the future of the country, but they are caught in a spiral of poverty. In order to help Madagascar in the long term, children must be given access to various materials in schools. With our school supplies project, we finance notebooks, pens, glue, books, bags, and much more for the children. The children are happy about every material they receive. With monetary and material donations, we can give schools in Madagascar access to materials and thus help the children in the long term.
